Material + specification
Oak is familiar, durable in appearance and versatile under clear or tinted finishes. Its visible pore and grain remain readable across narrow flutes and rounded reeds, helping the surface feel materially authentic rather than printed or wrapped.
Real oak varies in tone, grain movement and natural markings. Samples establish a direction, not an identical repeat. Where several doors or panels form one elevation, sequential selection and an agreed grain direction can improve visual continuity.
Raw oak allows a joinery workshop to apply its own system. Clear matt lacquer or natural oil can retain a pale character; stained and tinted finishes shift the tone while leaving the timber figure visible. Approve a physical finish sample before production.
Oak fluted surfaces work particularly well on kitchen islands, wardrobe fronts, media cabinetry, vanity units, reception desks and light commercial interiors. Core material, edge construction and finish must suit the component and expected environment.
